Hi Vaulted Viewer,
I hope this email finds you well! I want to let you know that my latest episode of Vaulted Views is up and running, as this week I take a fascinating detour into the world of whiskey with the incredible Sarah Jeltema, president of Women Who Whiskey San Diego. Sarah’s story of her journey from being a 911 dispatcher to becoming a whiskey educator and social media influencer is one you do not want to miss!
We kick off the episode with an international whiskey tasting, featuring five selections, including a Canadian single barrel and an Australian whiskey finished in red wine barrels. Along the way, Sarah shares her expertise on each one, as well as some very helpful tips on how to properly acclimate your palate!

Of course, there’s much more to it than just that. Sarah also opens up about her early career in politics and how her experiences in Washington, D.C. led her to the police department as a dispatcher. She has some wonderful anecdotes about her time there, both hilarious and heartwarming, including a memorable call involving a herd of goats on a busy street!
For those who want to know more about whiskey – and there’s a LOT to know – we dive deep into the nuances of the topic, including the differences in spelling (whiskey vs. whisky) and the unique characteristics of Japanese Mizunara oak barrels. I have to say, I was surprised at how little I actually knew about whiskey!
Whether you're a whiskey connoisseur or just curious about the spirit, this episode is packed with insights, stories, and information. Oh – and lots of humor, too!
So grab your favorite glass, pour yourself a “wee dram,” and join me for this exciting journey into the world of whiskey!

We enjoyed the following whiskeys:

Caribou Crossing: A Canadian single barrel, a premium class of whiskey in which each bottle comes from an individual aging barrel. The nose offers caramel, marshmallow, corn, and light oak, following with soft vanilla, caramel, and a hint of grain.

Hibiki Japanese Whisky: Hints of honey emerge beneath rich oak, with a touch of varnish. The palate is lively and attention-grabbing, transitioning to a gentle mid-palate and a soft, warming finish that fades seamlessly.

Starward: Nova Single Malt Australian Whiskey, nurtured for 2 years in red wine barrels, with notes of red berries, chocolate and soft oak spice, Nova is Starward's fruit-forward, signature single malt whisky.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve: The aroma combines cinnamon, vanilla, and red fruits, leading to a palate of tropical fruits, banana toffee, and vanilla ice cream. The finish lingers with orange zest, dark chocolate, and spices.

Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon: With bold aromas of tobacco, spice, leather, vanilla, almonds, and toffee, it gains fruity notes of fig, prune, and dried apricot from its Armagnac cask finish

Bhakta: Created by entrepreneur Raj Bhakta. Golden orange in color, the nose offers custard, caramel, and vanilla. The palate features oak, vanilla, and spice, with a finish of lingering oak and soft tannins
As always, I thank you for being part of the Vaulted Views community.
Cheers!

I can’t but help that deep down I am and always will be a financial advisor. From time to time I plan on sharing financial strategies and concepts that I feel will be valuable to our subscribers.

I have learned a lot over the years about the financial services industry. Financial advisors are small business owners balancing two roles, first being a financial advisor to their clients and second being a responsible business owner for their family, staff and their community. I plan on sharing financial industry content and my experiences to this select group of subscribers here.

We all have vices. Mine are fine whiskeys, cigars and thoroughbred horseracing. So if you are in to that, I will share what I'm up to recently to relax and enjoy my time away from the hustle.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we’ll unlock the secrets to success in money, business, and life.
Warm regards,
