How Should Financial Advisors Build Their AI Tech Stack? | Jessica Perez
Jessica Perez has spent more than 20 years in financial services, including senior leadership at Carson Group, and today works with advisory firms at MileMarker. She joins me on Vaulted Views to talk about something I think is going to become increasingly important as AI makes its way deeper into wealth management: Who owns your data, and what are you actually building your firm on? We get into why connecting individual tools isn't the same as building a unified data infrastructure, what happens when AI only sees one piece of your business, and why owning your firm's data and context could eventually matter to the enterprise value of your practice. Jessica also shares a great real-world example: one MileMarker partner says they're saving 38 hours a month just on basic reporting. That's where this gets interesting to me. Technology should give advisors time back to actually advise.

Financial advisors don't have a technology problem. They have an infrastructure problem.
You buy the CRM. The AI notetaker. The planning software. The dashboard. Another tool gets added because it's supposed to make the practice more efficient.
Then you look up and you've got a dozen logins, systems that don't talk to each other and data scattered across your entire tech stack.

In this episode, we cover:
- Why adding more fintech doesn't necessarily create a better advisory practice
- What a unified data infrastructure actually means
- Why AI makes clean, connected data even more important
- Who owns the data and context inside your advisory firm
- How advisor technology can eliminate hours of manual work
- Why your firm's data could become part of its enterprise value
- The difference between building, buying and partnering for technology
- How AI can work across an advisory firm's data instead of inside individual silos
- Where financial advisors should actually start with AI
My big takeaway?
Own your data. Own your client relationships. Partner for the rest.
I want my advisors advising. I want my marketing people marketing. I want my tech people doing tech.
If you're spending nights and weekends trying to build infrastructure somebody else has already built better, I'm not sure that's the highest and best use of your time.
That's exactly the kind of problem we're working to solve through the platform, technology and people we're building around advisors at Quotient.

I can’t but help that deep down I am and always will be a financial advisor. From time to time I plan on sharing financial strategies and concepts that I feel will be valuable to our subscribers.

I have learned a lot over the years about the financial services industry. Financial advisors are small business owners balancing two roles, first being a financial advisor to their clients and second being a responsible business owner for their family, staff and their community. I plan on sharing financial industry content and my experiences to this select group of subscribers here.

We all have vices. Mine are fine whiskeys, cigars and thoroughbred horseracing. So if you are in to that, I will share what I'm up to recently to relax and enjoy my time away from the hustle.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we’ll unlock the secrets to success in money, business, and life.
Warm regards,
